What is the Difference Between Injection and Rotomolded Coolers?

Materials

• Injection molding generally uses higher-cost materials, such as high-density polyethylene (HDPE), which provides durability and strength. In contrast, rotomolding often uses lower-cost, lower-density materials, making it a more affordable option for large-scale production.

Mold Design

• Injection molding requires a complex mold design, as the plastic material must be injected into the mold under high pressure. Rotomolding, however, uses a simpler mold, with the plastic material being filled by gravity and then rotated to ensure an even coating.

Production Speed

• Injection molding is faster than rotomolding because the plastic can be quickly injected into the mold and cooled. In comparison, rotomolding takes more time, as the mold needs to be rotated to allow the plastic to spread evenly..

Cost

• Due to the complex mold design and faster production speed, injection molding tends to be more expensive than rotomolding. Rotomolding, while slower, offers cost-efficiency for larger, bulk production.
